Nifty 500 stock screener with daily relative strength
The Nifty 500 covers about 95% of the free-float market capitalisation on the NSE. Screening within it keeps results to stocks large and liquid enough to trade, while still being broad enough to find leaders in every sector.
Open the free scannerWhat the scanner covers
Every stock in the Nifty 500 universe is scored after each close: RS rating, trend checks, distance from highs, volume and stage. You can filter to liquid stocks, sectors or your own watchlist.
Ready-made screens
- Trend template leaders and Stage 2 stocks
- RS line new highs and near 52-week highs
- VCP, cup with handle, flags and pocket pivots
- Volume breakouts and multi-year breakouts
- Sector leaders: the strongest stocks in the strongest groups
See the swing trading screener guide for how each is defined.
Build your own
The custom screen builder layers filters on any list, for example RS above 80, within 10% of the 52-week high and above the 200-day average. Combine screens with the sector view to focus on leading groups.
Data and timing
The scanner refreshes after the market closes, using end-of-day prices. It is not a real-time or intraday tool.
A worked example
A weekend routine: check market breadth, note the leading sectors, run the trend template with RS above 80, then run one setup screen (for example near 52-week high). The scan returns 15 stocks. After checking charts you keep 3 on the watchlist and set alerts. The whole routine takes under an hour and repeats the same rules every week.
Strategy examples
These are illustrative rule sets that show how the scanner can be used. They are not recommendations or advice, the numbers are examples, and rules like these can lose money. Test any idea on your own and manage risk before acting.
Weekly shortlist routine
- Check market breadth and trend on the Market tab.
- Run trend template leaders with “Liquid only” on.
- Add the best 3 to 5 charts to your watchlist.
- Review the list next weekend and remove stocks that broke down.
Sector-first funnel
- Open sector rotation and pick the Leading and Improving sectors.
- Open the screener and filter by those sectors.
- Sort by RS and review the top names.
Screen only your watchlist
- Build a watchlist from ideas you trust.
- On any screen, pick “My watchlist only” from the sector dropdown.
- See which of your own stocks are setting up today, without noise from the rest of the market.
Common mistakes
- Running every screen daily and acting on everything.
- Skipping the chart review after a screen.
- Expecting intraday data. The scanner updates after the close.
- Changing the rules after each loss.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Nifty 500 screener free?
Yes. Sign in with a Google account to use it.
Why screen the Nifty 500 and not all NSE stocks?
It keeps the universe liquid and tradable. Small, thinly traded stocks can show extreme rankings that are hard to act on.
How often is it updated?
After each trading day’s close.
Does it give buy or sell recommendations?
No. It is a research tool that ranks and filters stocks by rules.
